Subject:Harassment of Teachers and their families at University Gates

Dear Col. Chadha,

This is to bring to your notice that undersigned has received complaints from some faculty members that they and their families have faced harassment in the garb of Security at the University Gates, particularly Gate No. 2, wherein they were stopped and asked to go back and enter the University from Gate No. 3, on the plea that University authorities have taken a decision to allow residents staying on campus to enter the University only from Gate No. 3. The matter is serious since some female members of our colleagues were stopped and humiliated    publically.

A serious note may kindly be taken of such incidents, which cannot be allowed to happen on the campus. Our colleagues and their families are too respectable to be treated in such a shabby manner in the name of traffic management, especially when the authorities have completely failed to check the movement of vehicles all over the campus, especially the academic areas, despite the decision having been taken in the Syndicate.

It is requested that necessary and clear instructions may be issued to the concerned to be courteous and respectful towards the teachers and their families and avoid any harassment to them in the name of traffic    management.

Yours sincerely,

Rajesh Gill
