PUTA/2018/D/102

   Prof. Arun Grover

Vice Chancellor

Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Subject:   PUTA’S  REQUEST TO RESTRAIN FROM MAKING OUT OF TURN HOUSE ALLOTMENT TO ANY  EMPLOYEE

Sir,

This refers to the allotment of houses to University teachers, around 700 in number, with a very long waiting list, as a result of which they have to wait for years before they get a house on the campus. In this regard, it is submitted that a number of teachers have contacted the undersigned during the last 2-3 days, expressing the apprehension that F-22, which has recently been vacated, is likely to be allotted to some employee, out of turn. It has also been learnt that the Vice Chancellor’s office had requisitioned for the information regarding vacant houses for teachers, and concerned file has been sent to the Vice Chancellor.

In this regard, it is humbly submitted that PUTA is against any kind of out of turn allotment of houses. Moreover, a University teacher on an average has to wait for about 20-25 years to get this kind of a house, and therefore it shall be extremely unreasonable to allot a house to some one with just three or four years of service in the University. Moreover, no employee must be granted out of turn allotment twice at any cost, which is  totally unjustified, discriminatory and arbitrary. Any such move on the part of authorities shall create enormous bitterness and heart burning within the faculty.

PUTA therefore requests that authorities must restrain from making any out of turn house allotment at the cost of genuine claimants.

PUTA shall strongly protest any such move on the part of authorities and therefore it is requested that no out of turn house allotment may be made, creating avoidable controversy, and mistrust among hundreds of teachers who are quietly and eagerly waiting for their turn.

Some representatives of PUTA would like to meet you in above said  regard. It is requested that we may be given some time on Monday, 2nd July 2018 for the same.

Yours sincerely,

Rajesh Gill

President, PUTA
